Care, Cleaning, and Sealing

For daily maintenance of your granite or quartz countertops, any pH balanced general-purpose household cleaner or mild soap and water may be used to clean your tops. Care should be taken to make sure that the product is non-abrasive, and does not contain bleach or ammonia. In order to maintain the sheen on your granite or quartz countertop, it is recommended that you thoroughly rinse and dry the surface after washing.

For more detailed information visit our Care and Warranty Page.

To clean, simply use soapy water or a gentle household cleaner and wipe the surface dry. Windex or similar cleaners can be used. Avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach.

While there are different properties to these stones, it is recommended to clean with simple soap and water or mild cleaning products. Stronger cleaners such as bleach or ammonia should not be used on these countertop surfaces.

We recommend using any penetrating stone sealer to protect your countertop. These can be purchased from any big box retailer or tile shop.

Quartz – no, never.  Quartz is naturally non-porous and therefore is stain-resistant.

Granite – yes, but we can make that easy for you.  We can apply a permasealer in our shop before the countertops are installed.  Unlike common topical sealers, a PermaSealer offers a superior protective shield that chemically anchors to the stone’s surface creating a permanent bond.  The sealer impregnates the stone, going deep into the pores, not just resting on the surface.

The other option, is you can apply a topical sealer yourself every 6-12 months.  These can be purchased from any big box retailer or tile shop.

“More” marble sealer is a permanent sealer for marble including a transferable 20 year residential warranty. This sealer does protect marble countertops from staining, but not from etching. Etching happens when acidic foods or products react with the surface of the countertop, and leave dull spots in it’s place.  For example, lemon juice, tomato sauce, ketchup, etc.
